Comparative Evaluation of Admission Control Policies in Cellular Multiservice Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
We evaluate different call admission control policies in various multiservice cellular scenarios. For each of the studied policies we obtain the maximum calling rate that can be offered to the system to achieve a given QoS objective defined in terms of blocking probabilities. We propose an optimization methodology based on a hill climbing algorithm to find the optimum configuration for most policies. Preliminary results show that policies of the trunk reservation class outperform policies that produce a product-form solution and the improvement ranges approximately between 5 and 15%.

متن کاملOptimal Bandwidth Reservation in Multiservice Mobile Cellular Networks with Movement Prediction
We study the impact of incorporating handoff prediction information in the session admission control process in mobile cellular networks. We evaluate the performance of optimal policies obtained with and without the predictive information, while taking into account possible prediction errors. Two different approaches to compute the optimal admission policy were studied: dynamic programming and ...
متن کاملEfficient Algorithm to Determine the Optimal Configuration of Admission Control Policies in Multiservice Mobile Wireless Networks
We propose a new methodology and associated algorithms for computing the optimal configuration of the Multiple Fractional Guard Channel (MFGC) admission control policy in multiservice mobile wireless networks. Our approach is based on the solution space concept which discloses a novel insight into the problem of determining the optimal configuration parameter values of the MFGC policy and provi...
متن کاملCharacterizing the Downlink Transmission Power for WCDMA Networks in Multiservice Environments
This paper characterizes the downlink transmission power for WCDMA networks in multiservice environments for both urban and suburban macro cells. To calculate the required transmission power for the user in the cell, various modeling approaches are used to investigate the orthogonality, the path loss, and the inter-cell interference ratio of the user. The variation and scattering pattern of the...
متن کاملCall admission control in multiservice high altitude platform (HAP) W-CDMA cellular systems
Of the various radio resource management functions, in this paper we focus on call admission control (CAC). We propose a CAC scheme for multiservice High Altitude Platform (HAP) wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) cellular systems that caters for multimedia services. HAPs have known increasing popularity during the past few years and are expected to play a pivotal role in the teleco...
